2003 New PhD studies in Ecology and Environmental Sciences (Aquatic Ecology and Marine Biology) were established at Klaipėda University under the auspices of CORPI. First PhD thesis was defended in a new board.
2002 The Institute is awarded as EU Centre of Excellence among NAS institutions.The book "Invasive aquatic species of Europe - distribution, impact and management" was published by Kluwer Academic Publishers; one of editors was S. Olenin.

1999 The 16th BMB symposium is organized by CORPI in Klaipėda.
1998 CSA is reorganized into the Coastal Research and Planning Institute (CORPI).
1997 PhD studies board in Ecology is established at Klaipėda University. Later three PhD dissertations in water ecology were defended under supervision/support by the CORPI staff.
1996 International workshop "System Research in Ecology: Linking Watershed, Riverine and Marine Processes"
1996 CSA takes part in the first EU project (MAST III BASYS - Baltic Sea system studies), which is followed by the increasing involvement in EC FP V and FP VI funded projects.

1994 CSA (together with Åbo Akademi University, Finland) initiates a research network on Baltic alien species through the Baltic Marine Biologists (BMB) Working Group on Non-indigenous Estuarine and Marine Organisms.
1991 Research centre joins the newly founded Klaipeda University as the Centre of System Analysis (CSA) and the director and founder of the Centre (Prof. Donatas Švitra) becomes the first Rector of the University. At that time CSA scientists form the core of the newly established Faculty of Natural Sciences including the dean and heads of the several departments.
1987 First academic ecosystem research centre - a predecessor of CORPI- was established in Klaipėda with primary research focus on mathematical modelling and stream ecology.
